Robin Hood Outlaw, a New Take on a Classic by Saucify

The legend of Robin Hood – also known as Robert of Locksley – has been adapted to whatever medium you can think of. It has been used as a source of inspiration for a series of video slot machines as well. The latest in line to reach back to the times of Robin Hood is a new game by Saucify, a UK based developer of turnkey casino solutions.

To be honest, the visuals of this new five reel, three row video slot are far from what one would expect to see in 2016. The graphics of the game are a bit dated, but it functions like a charm. The game loads very quickly, and it’s incredibly responsive even on an older configuration. While visually it may be a bit retrograde, it works like a charm, and has all the functions one would expect from a modern day slot machine.

The reels of the game are filled with symbols tied to the Robin Hood story: Maid Marian acts as a Scatter, the game’s logo acts as a stacked Wild, and the rest of the symbols represent the King, the Sheriff and Friar Tuck (it seems Robin didn’t make it), archery related symbols and the usual J to A.

Three or more Maid Marian symbols landing on the reels will trigger the game’s free spins feature. The maximum number of spins that can be triggered is 12, but they can be re-triggered from within the feature. During free spins all wins are doubled. And if you thought Robin didn’t make it, you are mistaken – he can randomly appear during the free spins feature, fire an arrow toward a random symbol and turn it into a Wild.

During the game players will be able to collect gold coins. Whenever two or more loaded carts land on the reels, at least one coin will be added to the stack. To make things more interesting, the Sheriff of Nottingham can also appear on the reels, removing up to 15 coins from the stack. Collection 33 gold coins will trigger the Raid the Castle bonus game.

During Raid the Castle, Robin and his Merry Men are out to rid Prince John of his “ill gotten gains”. Players will have to pilfer through four stages of the castle, from the taxation tent to the throne room, and collect wins. Revealing any “Collect” symbol will bank the wins and end the feature.

Even if it looks dated, Robin Hood Outlaw is a great game to play.
